This seems to be a common line through the thread, I guess to some it might be, but the "alternative" is in reality probably going to be better, that may seem an odd thing to say, but "surviving" might be a living hell that goes on for years and years, near starving, Raiders, any injury could result in serious consequenses, alway concerned where the next meal is coming from, will the next person in the village try and take everything from you!

A computer expert was taken hostage by Iranians in Iraq a few years back, his security team consisted of four armed guards, two or three were killed during the abduction, the other was killed later, the expert was held for a number of years.

Early times the guards would give him a good kicking, which led to broken ribs, fingers etc, and of course severe bruising, then one of the guards would load a pistol and put it to his head, another guard would fire a shot as he walked out.

Now if that was the sort of life you were to lead as a "survivor" would it be better to get it over with early on?

i believe you are confusing "survivor" with a surviving "hostage", one you are in charge of your own destiny and in the other you arent.

He was also a "survivor",
sur·vi·vor [ser-vahy-ver]

noun
1.
a person or thing that survives.

2.
a person who continues to function or prosper in spite of opposition, hardship, or setbacks.
He didn't "know" what tomorrow was going to bring, he might live, he might die.

As a "survivor" of a SHTF situation it may be a similar situation, one day happy as a pig in poo, next day having your butt kicked and stores raided, except as a SHTF survivor it is possible to run away and just abandon everything until another day.

There are people around (possibly some on here) who seem to think that being a prepper/survivalist is some sort of guarantee that post SHTF they will be okay, after all they have prepped for almost all situations, except losing, or being wrong.

I am about to share with you something I have NEVER said aloud. Noy even my wofe knows This.

I want to srvive because I believe I am meant to. I am not a religous man. But I believe I have been choosen to not only survive but to be a leader and help others. I have had the feeling since I was a little boy (my earliest memory of this feeling is from about 8 or 9). I can't explain it fully and yes I want to see my daughter survive and prosper (that is without saying) but at times I wonder if I will want my family with me duriNg the worst times?! Do they deserve to suffer though real terrible times because I think I am supposed to?! Now you see why I have never mentioned it!

I believe one day I will lead other to survival.

More worrying than funny. There will probably be a lot of lost souls looking for leaders and cults to join. Think Jonestown or worse, a "righteous" crusade to convert all us non cultists/non conformists.
