Forgot a water container steralising for several hours, and locked the back door with the lawnmower still out! Getting forgetful in my old age.

Also have x4 more filters for my gravity water filter delivered, so thats another 2 years supply.
You're storing water in 20L Jerry cans? Metal or Plastic?
Tell us more about your 'gravity water' system? Big storage tank additional to the normal domestic one??? How do you mean 'another 2 years supply'? Are you referring to the life of the filters?

Sorry no i didn't make that clear, my bad.

It was just the deliveries i had yesterday, 2x20L jerry cans for fuel not for water.

The filters that also arrived for the water are a separate matter, these filters for my Doulton water filter are ceramic and last 1 year per 2 filters.

I had a quick count last night and i am on about 4 months of food preps but my bottled water is only at about 20-25 days worth so thats something I really need to increase (Last case I can use my water filter on my rainwater catchment, but i'd rather not)

He has learned a lot had a go at fire lighting toasting marshmallows making schmores with chocolate digestives (this after having been treated to a Chinese by Grandma)

And learning to keep off the tent sides due to condensation  (cheap single skin pop up tent that he got for his birthday hence the camp out) he loves his snugpak tsb bag got down to 3°c here and foggy so a good test for when he goes off with Cubs / Scouts that he will be warm enough
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Love that both of you are encouraging your children (small and much bigger) to learn skills and appreciate the outdoors. Two of our four children enjoy camping, the other two do not. I have some wonderful memories of camping as a child and we holiday in our bell tent each year, which is admittedly glamping more than camping, but still happy to rough it when needed. As a Girl Guide I passed my Backwoodsman badge, the leaders had a proper struggle to find someone to test me.

Oh I had fun  big sister 15 well she didn't want to camp out   well tonight I got the leftover marshmallows out and some more gold chocolate digestives and strangely she very quickly migrated to the back garden from her teenage slum / hovel ...

Little man has been pestering me for a while about fire extinguishers .. so tonight we had a "deliberate accident"

set him the situation a clumsy daddy who's had too much mucky beer has knocked over the little camp fire and his job was to put it out ... Talked him through the basics of raise the alarm make sure someone has called 999 make sure you can get away from the fire. Then the PASS method and fire classes ( he's done similar at cubs) I had a old foam extinguisher which had a damaged nozzle for him to use...

Carefully tipped the small amount of burning wood onto the patio and let him put his knowledge into practice he did bloody well fire out in seconds he struggled initially to break the tamper seal but taught him to twist the pin a few times and it snapped easily ... Before we had a go at been a fire man ...

He's been nervous / very nervous of fire since the bedroom fire so am doing everything I can to build his confidence about fire/ fire safety

Frost forecast for Wed night on Accu, -1°. I'm gonna put an old bed sheet over my Acer to protect the new leaves.

Made a list of all the frozen stuff I have, and planned evening meals for a couple of weeks to use it all up. Makes sure I don't end up with ancient stuff in there. I will of course be buying new stuff, but the list should mean I get all the old used up. I'll probably put new stuff in one freezer drawer, and old in another.
