Happy new year all. -4° here this morning.

Have compared gas and electricity spending for the last 3 months compared to last year (I estimated today's) when I had lodgers, and am around 20% down, so am pretty happy with that. Prices were about the same, overall, I believe.

Got 2026 spreadsheet ready to go. Last January I used £178, so am hoping for under £140 this month. December was about £120. My direct debit is £110, and I think I might get that down to £100 eventually.

Lodger 2 cleared his stuff out yesterday. He's only slept here about 3 nights all year. Gave me a nice bottle of whisky!

Need to get my application in for single occupancy council tax reduction.

That's the best way to spend a cold morning warm house , french home bake croissants dripping with butter and a big cup of the finest Yorkshire tea  lads joined me with his with Nutella and a glass of fresh orange juice

Before we go out brave the chill for a birthday present for my mum and some more butter

Just strapped down the wheely bins, got extra wood in and ensured that the gang of teenagers who have been resident since the 27th are leaving today so that they don't get snowed in with us.
50mph wind, snow and sub zero temperatures forecast for the next four days, that's a pretty sure recipe for being snowed in (well, iced in to be more exact).

My son drove into town to drop his mates off at the bus so I've sent him into Tesco to get more beer (just in case).

two 100w vertical solar panels pulling in 125w combined, that's good on a summer's day let alone today, only a couple of hours worth like that but all good and free.

Happy Calender Advancement Day everybody.

May your preps be untouched (save for Rotation) and your life be stress free.
