Sounds like a viable BOL.
I'm from Weymouth, so it's not far, either.

Get your puds on an English heritage/Cadw etc members book that lists all their porperties - these include those massive Iron age forts such as Maiden Castle not just stone keeps and castles. They are huge ,high and can be fortified, with a lot of their original earthworks still intact. Also the national trust booklets that lists their places as well as a general tourist book of places of interest and that might give you an idea of where people may congregate in a large scale emergency. You may not want to gather in a communal area, depends of the type and scale of the energency but at last you can add this info to your general plans for large scale disaster senarios and decide whether to avoid those areas or flock to them.

How interesting! Everything I'm reading from America says layers of plans are the right thing to go for - so, bugging in, then an emergency rendezvous point, then maybe somewhere a family member or friend lives. And of course, in America, they have so much land that they really can just head up into the hills. Not really possible here in south east England! But a socking great NT or EH property, absolutely. A regional BOL - I love it. I saw this thread when I was reading as a guest, and I'm very glad I've managed to find it again.

@ pingu
i wouldnt have deemed maiden castle worthy,
id class it as a windswept hill with ramparts
hardly defendable without a lot of work which would not go unnoticeable.
