If you live in the south/south East

Post by Bournemouthprepper »

Have you looked at pevensey castle? Obviously this would be a BOL if the SHTF on a huge scale, but its still largely intact, one entrance/exit.

It was occupied and modififed in WW2 in case of invasion by the germans. Nice and big, plenty of room for a fair sized amount of people and even room to plant inside the walls!

I'm not that far away from there maybe only an hour drive or so....And then again Nan owns a small 2nd home bungalow near the sea front there....Hmmm I think I may have a new possible BOL :D

Another pro on the pro and con list is that if you think about it, if the SHTF most people would be so busy looking for food and water that they wouldn't even think about trying to get to a national trust castle!

Aye although you would have to quickly seal up the one of the keeps entrance (the one that leads directly from the keep to the local houses) prob almost as soon as one gets there unless theres been a major die off or exodus of people....Though the only thing that puts me off it that it is pretty close to sea level.

Fair enough...Should be in Eastbourne maybe next weekend so I'm going to make a quick intel trip to the castle. That way I can get a bit more info than just the general photos and maps from the internet. If your interested I can send you over what I manage to slam together?

yeah sounds good,

i think in an extreme global world ending SHTF, i need a location or point to aim to get too, if not just to keep me sain and objective! and that is 'relatively' close and a very good tactical position!

Somewhere i have been also looking into is Brownsea island, poole.
