I hate signing on, though. It goes against the grain.
You've paid into the system, Smiley - no reason why you shouldn't take something out to get you through the summer.

Smileyt, I'm signing on this summer, never done it before but have no money. My course finishes in 5 weeks, last bursary payment in June. Both cars need work doing, just spent out £900 on mine  . If I sign on at teaching agency for supply work for the last 4 weeks of term (there's no guarentee of work, of course, as schools are strapped for cash too) I need to pay £60 for my CRB check. I don't have a spare £5 let alone £60.
Haven't got a job yet for September but I'm being optimistic about that. However, even if I did secure a job my first pay packet would be end of Sept.
OH is totally stretched as he's supported us through this year without my income.
And the grey hairs are beginning to show :o

Sorry to here about your situation dude. I hope you find work soon. You can get a little income by making youtube videos and posting amazon links to recommended products, and becoming a you tube partner? PM me if you want more info.

Ferfal who is living in post collapse argentina stated that this is the reality that most people are prepping for. He lists finding/creating a job as one of the main skills that preppers overlook.

Most preppers/survivalists are preparing for grid failure and civil unrest, but not high unemployment and low income (not saying you didn't prep for that smiley).
