Prepping getting harder !

Oh bug*er. If my income drops any further I`ll be permanently in the minuses!
To be honest though it isn`t any surprise, finances have been dire for so many for quite some time now and there seems to be no light on the horizon.
As you know, I had to use my prep store a wee while ago, and now find it even more of a struggle to replace it now. Things have gone up in price, pretty much everything has....it`s one of the reasons I`m struggling to grow more of my own this year...to keep down costs and have enough veg at least to see us through winter if nothing else.
Hate to sound all doom `n gloomy, but it`s beginning to feel exactly like wartime according to what my grannie would tell me! Except the government doesn`t have the cojones to introduce rationing or, more importantly, to cap goods prices in shops so that everyone across the country pays a fair price, the SAME price, no matter where we live.
Can but dream though, eh? They don`t have the smarts to do that....

Just to add to the cheery news, there was a farmer on "farming today" this morning saying that due to the driest spring (especially in the east) for 30 odd years Vegetable crops would suffer and would rise in price accordingly....all the more reason to grow your own, can keep costs down and is a usefull "prepping" skill to learn

I could have a lot more veg if the OH would just get his act together and DIG MORE
One other important side to prepping is to learn to live with less. Learn to appreciate simpler meals. You know how it is when you're on holiday and outside working or walking for miles... you get really hungry and any food tastes great, doesnt it? That's how it should be. Sweet home baked bread, cool fresh butter, home made jam, fresh laid eggs. The real luxury food !

Harder?
No, it's just got easier.
Looking round at the supermarkets, they are suffering from a fairly big drop in income.
(Our collective hearts weep, poor little B's that they are)
The result is that there are a lot of loss leaders on offer and I'm snatching them off the shelves before someone else does.
I'll give you an example. Yesterday, one day only cut of Corned Beef from £1.75 to £0.99p.
I bought 24 cans.

I just hope their sales continue to drop, I'm doing very nicely out of it thank you.

O god stoppit  I can only go once a week , too much in petrol for us to go every day looking for bargains. But good for you, the only way to show them is to stop buying at silly prices.
I heard that elect is to go up later this year. Anybody know more about this?
