Hi from Stoke On Trent

Post by mikeandrod »

At last I've found a UK site!

OK so here goes...we live and work in the Midlands and have been prepping on and off for a few years but now starting to take things a bit more seriously. Bought a farm in Slovakia 3 years ago to relocate to as part of our long term plan but at the first signs of any trouble we'll get over or under the channel by whatever means necessary and keep going till we get there.

Currently building up dehydrated and vacuum packed food stores and toiletries/medicines etc. Just found a supplier to buy unprocessed wheat berries from and now trying to make bread that doesn't break your teeth - the wheat berries will last for 30 years when vacuum sealed. Next investment when I've got the money is an oil extractor so I can make lamp oil from the nuts and seeds that grow on our farm - need to know I've got a backup plan should I run out of candles!

I got made redundant 2 years ago and am only just getting back on my feet financially so always trying to find the cheapest way to do everything - homemade washing detergent worked very well :)

Looking forward to being able to share tips and ideas with other people who aren't on the other side of the Atlantic.
