I've got a mole.....

Post by ForgeCorvus »

...... And its ticking me off

I don't want to kill it (as its only annoying rather then being a pest)
So, any suggestions as to how to get the little bugger to sling his hook?

Jasper Carrot once did a nice little story on the subject, only one way to get rid of a mole!
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

best idea if you catch it in a humane trap is to teach him a lesson.............bury him alive, that'll teach him

From what I understand after being told this by someone who deals with vermin control humane traps aren't really suitable for moles. They have a high metabolism and need to eat almost constantly so will quickly starve to death in the traps so not that humane unless you can check the trap hourly. As an aside I use a humane trap to catch mice and rats and it's pretty effective . However , I then have a live rat in a box so I end up dropping the whole thing in a large bucket of water and drowning the animal , so again not that humane in some respects.

Just an idea try putting a kids windmil on a metal spike in the mole run hopefully the vibrations will encourage the mole to move on.... good luck.

Piss down the holes after a few meat heavy meals, most vermin smell the urine and consider it to be a predator and try to stay away.
I know that moles have excellent sense of smell but not entirely sure this works on them or not.
