7 day prep challenge

Post by preppingsu »

http://foodstoragemadeeasy.net/7day

September is Preparedness Month. Although this challenge is American it could be very useful to test out preps. They issue a different challenge and you have to manage as best you can using the scenario.

Could be useful to show those holes in your preps.

Anyone up for the challenge?

I think I might be, HOWEVER, I was a little amused  to see one of the previous challenges was 'vegan visitors'

It's frightening to think in this day and age people see veganism as a challenge.

Having said this, it looks like fun! :D

@ stasher Vegans can be a real challenge especially the ultra orthodox ones, can you be sure you have never cooked meat in that sauce pan?

Sorry, that was a flippant response

We do have cookery items here that I know have not been touched by meat, dairy products would be a problem tho. Good point

My Mother in Law is an orthodox vegan. I would be happy to invite her. However her Daughter reckons she is a pain in the ...! So she never gets invited. Interesting that she has a lot of health issues too, but I digress.
In a grid- down, shtf, paw-type situation, with the shops shut, faddy diets will be out of the window. Please do not misunderstand me, I have NO problem with principled diets of any sort, but they only exist as we have a wealthy and uninterrupted supply system. When that system falters, I believe that a grumbling stomach will overcome any dietary reservations.
That is my opinion. I expect that I shall receive a barrow-full if vitriol now!

As a P.S, it is interesting that the Muslim Koran, which lays down dietary rules, does exort Muslims to eat whatever they have to to stay alive in hard times. Something that my Asian friend told me awhile back.

Spot on Jansman. I'm actually vegan - pretty strict - but I don't mind if the cook is wearing leather shoes while preparing my meal ;)
I'm under no illusion in an emergency situation my family and I will eat whatever we have to, to stay alive.

Might give the challenge a go as I've taken my eye off the ball in recent months....

Im curious now, having no vegan friends I have no idea what food would be suitable? Hobo, what kinds of food do you eat?? If that's not too nosy

Must admit Hobo that I have taken my eye off the ball too. Comfy living I guess!
I reckon the challenge is a good idea.
