Toothache!

Post by jansman »

Right then! I have had exquisite toothache for 36 hrs. I called in to see my dentist and he gave me some antibiotics. I shall go back monday.
If you have seen the film 'Castaway' you will recall the scene where Tom Hanks takes out the offending tooth with a skate blade and a rock as a hammer. How I know what drove him to that!
Hopefully the pills will take the infection away-although I still have thepain. The question is; Has anyone thought about dentistry and dental health if the system broke down?

I though of getting a copy of Where There is No Dentist. All I've got so far is a soft copy on my eReader, which will not be as useless as it sounds once I have a solar charger for it!
edit: Hope you're tooth is feeling better soon!

Thanks for that link. I have 'seen' that book but never read it. Maybe I should. Thanks for the good wishes. Anyone know about natural remedies?
I have posted this 'cos I am a big strong bloke who is reduced to being a wimp! makes me think you can have all the gear in the world, but toothache(or any other ache) could reduce you to nothing.

Meanwhile if the pain is due to exposed dentine even in the smallest, I recommend "repair and protect" toothpaste by sensodyne. It really does kill the pain of tooth sensitivity and it might even help in your situation. Its dramatically different to other sensitive toothpastes. However, even if the pain goes away, get thyself to a dentist no matter what.

If we ever have to do without dentists, it will either be because it will all be privatised or because its a temporary fault in the system that will pass quickly IMHO

Thanks folks. Poppypiesdad, I am onto the clove oil. Nick, the dentist gave me some of the toothpaste you speak of. Looking at your comment, I did smile :D my dentist is private, which is why he saw me , literally, at a moments notice. I am far from being a wealthy man, but I don't care what it costs.
Anyhow, I was told to rub the sensodyne on the affected area, and it does ease it somewhat.
