The HUBi 10k LIGHTING AND POWER SYSTEM.

Post by Hamradioop »

Maplins sent me info on the Hubi Power system this morning. http://www.solartechnology.co.uk/index. ... uct_id=353

HUBi
The HUBi system works by collecting daylight and sunlight through its high performance crystalline solar panel and converting this to DC electricity which is fed directly into the Solar Hub containing a safe and light weight Lithium battery pack. Smart internal electronics ensure that the system never gets overcharged and always extracts the maximum from its solar panel.

Unlike the HUBi 2k the HUBi 10k not only has a battery 5 times bigger but it is expandable, allowing you to connect up to 3 units together giving you a huge amount of power.

LUMi lighting
Both HUBi 2k and 10K are supplied with 2 LUMi lights. Each light can be switched via a button on the center point of the LUMi lens and also on the HUBi Solar Hub. Supplied with a 4m cable and hanging hook, each LUMi has a brightness of 40 lumens and this is capable of illuminating a 3m x 3m area. Using the very latest surface mounted LED’s ensures that LUMi’s power consumption is kept to a minimum ensuring long burn times.
If more light is needed, up to four LUMI’s can be powered from a single HUBi solar hub when the LUMi Light Splitter Cable accessory is purchased (sold separately).

Supplied with:
♦ 20w Solar Panel
♦ Solar Panel Stand
♦ 2 x Lumi 12v lights and mounting hooks
♦ Main HUBi 10A unit
♦ All connecting cables
♦ Two year worldwide warranty

The Solar Hub has five output sockets that deliver power;

Looks like a polychrystalline panel too. The only thing I'm slightly envious of is the battery.

My homemade solar generator works brilliantly, I just wish I had a lighter battery! Can't have everything (well, not on my budget) hey ho. :D

I'm really interested in this and follow the solar & backup energy threads but being a mere mortal chippy and used to working in wood a lot of it confuses me. This looks like a plug n play set up which although expensive would work for me - the thing is not having the knowledge can cost you £'s in the long run right ?

Great thread though.
