Going lightweight. Dutch bivi.

Post by Trawlerman »

Not been on for a while but i've not been idle.
I just ordered a Dutch Hooped Bivi for an upcoming wildcamp.

I'll be travelling on a motorcycle and just kipping down overnight where ever I find a suitable spot.

Right now i'm trying to cut down the weight of my kit. Aside from the bivi I have a Snugpak Jungle bag, Snugpak fleece liner and a Snugpak lightweight thermalon liner. I also have the ex-army softie suit (trews/jacket).

So do I need to take the softie suit? or can i get away with just the bag and the thermalon? Or scrap that and just take the Softie suit and forego the sleeping bag/liner?

Many thoughts on what would be best. FWIW i'll be doing some trips over the next few months to the North Yorkshire Moors using this setup.

If you've got the space take it all and experiment. I've got the softy suit and its really toasty but somehow its not the same as having a cover over you. You said you're planning on a few jaunts, use the first one as a trial run and see how you go. Enjoy mate.
