Oakley si gloves?

Post by Pointboy »

Hey guys and gals. I've just been browsing the interwebs for a good pair of gloves that will last a life time and really stand up to a lot of beating. I came across some OAKLEY MILITARY SI TACTICAL TOUCH GLOVES. I know that the military and special forces use these gloves a lot and they have a high reputation for being a quality product, but I'm wanting to know has anyone got any hands on experience with them or possibly be able to point me to gloves like these, with the carbon knuckles and such. I want to get a little info before I spend nearly 50 or 60 quid on them. Thanks

Depends what you're looking for really, but Oakleys aren't actually all that great. They suffer from being uncomfortable and they have too much padding to give you decent trigger feedback.
I can't think of a single use for carbon knuckles, but you'd be better off going for some Pig Alphas. They're tough, fit snugly and are excellent for shooting with if you want that sort of thing.

The bonus is they're also about half the price of Oakleys ;)

I have a pair of these, cant say they were worth the money :( Bad threading, knuckles rub annoyingly, rubbing round the wrist, uncomfortable hot. I could go on but you get the point, I now use them as gardening gloves. If your looking for tactical gloves that will last a good time either get Mechanix or Blackhawks, never had a problem with them.

Ive had the same pair of gloves from oakley for 8 years , first thing to do is make sure they arnt fakes , poor quality, bad stiching , hard leather , then you need to feed the leather , saddle soap is ideal , then sweat them up as you would do for boots .
Never force dry them
The only mod ive done is cut one finger tip off.

Yes the "carbon fiber" is a bit much and also never used it .
Personaly cant fault them

I am a die hard Mechanix guy myself. I used them while in the military and now use them for just about everything from motorcycle riding to trekking in the woods. The fit great, hand dexterity impairment is minimal, the hold up great, and the are not that expensive. I use the Mechanix originals and the M-Pact. Have not tried the other styles of Mechanix as I have not needed to but have tried a bunch of other brands and I always go back.

I have had a pair of mechanix fingerless for two years, love them. They still look new out the box, I expect another four years or so.
