Thought I'd say hello. I wouldn't have considered myself a 'prepper' until the past couple of years I suppose, and I'm not even prepared, but we all start somewhere.
I'm primarily interested in keeping me, my better half, and our cat, safe in bug-in situations. Camping and bushcraft interests me a lot, but if the SHTF we will stay home unless we have no other choice. Let's hope that sort of thing never happens eh?
I've had an interest in radio since I was 14 and have been a shortwave listener ever since I was given a Heathkit SW receiver for that birthday. I'm now 43, I scratched the itch about four years ago and got my Foundation licence, and went on to get my Full licence as fast as I could. From nothing to full took about 20 months, mostly because I spent a year waiting for an advanced course at my local radio club. I recommend the hobby to all
I've been an active member of my local RAYNET group for three years and there is a fair bit of overlap between RAYNET readiness and being prepared, so I've joined up to learn more.
Thanks for reading
Steve.
