Back to Prepping

Post by Djorn »

Hi Preppers

We have finally moved into our house and I thought I would share a little of this preppers dream with you. The house was built in 1870 as an old coaching house to a large mansion. In the early 1970s it was renovated and became a family home, they left the cast iron stable in the lounge as a feature (sounds strange by it works) due to the location of the house the rear of the property is half under the ground. As result we have 2 cellars off the rear of the house one is 8 meters by 4 meters and the other is about half that. The only downside to this is they are quite low and only giving around 1.8 meters head room....fine for a shorty like me. The question is what to do with them, the first one (the small one) is going to be a coal and wood store, this has been used for such in the past and seems to work well for that purpose. The second much larger one I thought about a full prep store and panic room. Complete with Solar panel light etc. Another bonus to this house is a wet cellar in the front of the property, due to being just below loch level it gets "wet" from time to time....ideal for storing of the kayaks and a like.

Regards

Dj

Sounds fantastic!

One query tho: when the wet cellar gets wet, how far does it travel to the other cellars? For a panic room, I suppose it would still be okay, even if soggy, but some preps would be ruined by a damp atmosphere ...

Must be a gorgeous place to live though, and a lot of potential in a place and location like that :) congratulations.

You could always use the wet cellar as a Mushroom Cave. ;)

Done properly there's no reason for it not to work although you've got to remember you are never going to be able to fasten anything to the walls in a big screws type way.
