Surviving the economic collapse by Fernando 'ferfal' Aguirre
One of the best prep/survival books I've read. Written by a guy who lived through the 2001 financial collapse in Argentina.
Certainly eye opening, and very relevant to most if not all developed countries right now

Sounds like an interesting take on the topic! I think I'll add it to next months book order. Thank you.
Re: The modern survival manual
I will second what Scoobie says there. I am currently re reading the same. It is very relevant.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Thirded. Good book. Might pull it off the shelf for a re-read.

Re: The modern survival manual
i think there was an excerpt of this book on this very site fairly recently, I printed it off back then and reread it last night, just ordered the while thing on Amazon.
there's also a segment from a book/blog/diary of a chap who lived in Bosnia during the war there, very powerful stuff both with similar themes - its the small stuff that you take for granted and don't even think about that'll find you wanting (soap & toilet roll etc.). These seem to be the most valuable trading items too..
common theme across both is that the individual bloke who's bugged in and tooled up soon gets overrun but to survive you have to band as a group.
I've got both of these texts as word documents, let me know if anyone wants a copy.
cheers

Self-published to order, so I think you'll have to go to his blog:
