hey great idea! i've made a makeshift one out of a jat lid a bobbin pin and a shred of a tea towel! i'm moving house so i havent got alot around! Works well though! =) i shall be sure to keep a couple of bottles extra for when TSHTF!

Has anyone considered an olive oil stove before ?
Any thoughts?
I used the method for a wood gas stove before and soaked cotton wool balls with corn oil and threw that into the wood gas stove.
The result was that the oil vaporized and then at the secondary air intake holes, the vapor ignited into hot biodiesel flames.
but corn oil and other "yellow" cooking fats smelt terrible and gave off black sticky soot. Definitely unhealthy but doable in an emergency for out door cooking.
Has anyone attempted olive oil with this (or any) method before?
And if so what happened, how did you do it and could you cook properly with it.

I have now made myself one of those lamps. Worked a treat
Got plenty of proper wick from the hardware store and wire in store to make loads when required.
