Strings and cords?

Post by sniper 55 »

Now I know good old 550 paracord is the one to beat, but I keep hearing a lot of talk about "bank line" and kite string. Now I always have paracord in my pack, and usually a length in my pocket, but I'm thinking for a lot of stuff it's overkill. Do I really need 500lb cord for my washing line in camp, or holding up a poncho while I have a cuppa? The honest answer is no. Paracord is also a bit pricey and takes up a fair bit of space if your carrying a good length.
So has anybody tried either of these (or better still both) and which would be my best bet? Or is there something better again?

Bank line is really good and its cheap comes in massive spools and has more than enough strength for bushcraft jobs and its recommended by Dave cacanterb, tbh i cant fault it

+1 for bank line also.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go with some bank line, it looks like it'll come in handy for all those odd jobs.
