Small things that make life easier

Post by Jaeger48 »

This is to keep the discussion going about small items that we use but don't always consider. I'm not thinking of big things like your BOB or vehicle but the little things.

For me zip lock bags in the 1 gallon size alays seem to be missing when I need them. I'm shopping this evening and will get some more.

What about you?

Vaseline
Lubricant, waterproofing, fire accelerant, chapstick, lamp fuel and many more uses

I recently bought one of the little round tins, its now got a bit of wick in it

Already planning on what I'm going to use the tin for when its empty

Due to my age and failing eye-sight, I've just started carrying a credit card size fresnel lens in my wallet.

EDIT: It's not bad as a magnifying glass and it might be a reasonable firestarter. I've not tried that yet but the theory is there. 5 for £2 off eBay.

I found some cheap round ones on ebay, I think I paid about a pound each, something like that, handy for getting splinters out or fixing small things.

I've bought a few pairs of cheap reading glasses to have around the place, one pair came with a hard case so I keep them in my jacket pocket.

Cable Ties.

I know you can lash things together with paracord but cable ties earn their place in my stash.

Along with my two pairs of prescription glasses I def have spare reading glasses - One in Car, One in Handbag, One in desk at work, One in sewing bag.
Now, where did I put my glasses.....
Also
Lighters (matches), for some reason I can never find in the house when I need - I do buy they but they seem to "disappear" - I have now squirrelled away a big box of matches and one of those long extended lighters in the box with my candles (probably not a good idea, but at least I know where they are).
On the Naughty Step . . . Again!

I've really been concentrating on the small bits & pieces recently (for that read obsessed!)... recent purchases have been:

Tweezers
Wet wipes (in car glove box) & hand sanitizer
Small pen for key ring
Sachets of honey and peanut butter (for hiking / BOB / when handy quick energy boost is needed)
