Why are there dates on bandages and dressings? I can't see that something is going to go wrong with a piece of material as long as it hasn't been removed from its wrapping.
What about plasters? Can the stickyness degrade over time?

I think (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) its to do with the integrity of the packaging, they're probably still good for a time afterwards but the manufacturers are covering themselves from being sued etc

Elastic in the bandages degrade with age but mostly as above the old cover their asre reasoning

I know some of our expired kit gets donated to Africa so can't be that bad. Some might be donated to my stocks as well (for training purpose).

I have to rotate the stock on our First Aid Boxes here at work. (Purely for H&S reasons and auditing out of date stock).
Needless to say, my home/car first Aid boxes are 'adequately' stocked.
