Small or No space gardening

Post by junmist »

I know that a lot of people have only a small garden or no garden at all and are wondering how to help themselves by growing their own food.
I saw this on You Tube the other day and thought that it would help those who are having this problem. It is called Windowsill Farming and it even has a facebook community it can be adapted to be used out side it small areas as well.
It started off in America and the person who thought of it did not want the company's to get hold of it and just put it out there so it is now world wide. There is a school in Sweden that is trying to solve the light problem of their winters, Australia is having problems with too much sun. The only problem I can see for people in a flat is deciding if you want to cut your light level down. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkCuPrsPn_ Different type https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugc71yhAfV0 and for those who would like to try it outside https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCtAQOP3xuk

I love the sound of this - its something I'm working up to (my aloe vera plants on my kitchen windowsill will attest to this, but they're not food) so I'll be watching these videos next week.

look into either bottle windowsill farming or aquare foot gardening, or gardening in height or layered troughs, hanging pockets also pockets like shoe pockets that hang over the fence etc
