Large sleeping bag
Large sleeping bag
Im looking at getting a new sleep bag but hit a bit of a brick wall! I'm 6ft 1 and 18st large frame and was looking at getting a ex-British issue army bag, the last couple i got are way to tight around the chest and i need a bit more breathing room, any one able to help me out?

I have been looking at a twin sleepingbag for me and my dog, perhaps it will work for you to? http://www.sprayway.com/challenger-350-twin-1625
Re: Large sleeping bag
I'm 6' and a boyish 19 stone and while its a bit toight amidships its not a deal breaker, you're not going to get that 'king size experience' in a sleeping bag generally unless you get the camping ones (as opposed to the 3 season plus) although a woollen blanket will make a big difference and it doesn't really matter if they get wet.dowser78 wrote:Im looking at getting a new sleep bag but hit a bit of a brick wall! Re: Large sleeping bag
Like you dowser i'm a big boy 6 foot 1 and way over your 18 stone, no point in buying double size bag as your body will have to heat more space and hence give a cooler inside, in the end i went for this http://www.outwell.com/Products/Sleepin ... ntourLuxXL
Given your size it should be perfect, for me it's snug but as i say i'm begger then you.

Please bear in mind i am prepping for the River Thames to flood and how i can get to safe ground, I'm not worried about the end of the world..... I'll die with the other Minions.
I can't trust Govt or local Council to help me so i have to help myself.

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
Re: Large sleeping bag
If you're OK with the US military version of the sleep system, they have an XL version. Numbers-wise its scarcer than the normal bags and you may pay a bit of a premium being overseas.
Here's one example of a vendor selling the XL bags
http://blackstarsurplus.com/Inventory/m ... ss/xl-4pc/
You may need to buy the various components separately.
For the XL sets you need to google the following NSNs for the different parts
* Sleeping Bag, Patrol, X-long - NSN 8465-01-452-1688
* Sleeping Bag, Intermediate, X-long - NSN 8465-01-452-1690
* Bivy Cover, X-long - NSN 8465-01-452-1695
Those are the individual components and you may need to buy the pieces individually to get a complete XL set

Ah, you beat me to the post. We have a couple of these, they are definitely roomy but not all that warm. I'd say it's a two season bag.Stasher wrote:Alpha male is also a big strong lad and I have been thinking about getting something similar to this
