Newbie
Re: Newbie
Welcome to the forum, what aspects of prepping are you most interested in ? Its a pretty broad subject. Whatever you're after I hope you find plenty inspiration, I have.
Re: Newbie
Thanks for the reply deeps . I'm interested in most aspects to learn about as such but mostly in prepping for my family and myself in a shtf aspect. I have read a few article on here and added a few bits to my bob .
I'm mostly bothered about the food side of things , maybe gathering a 72hr pack to add to my bob and ideas with regard to this.

Re: Newbie
Welcome
What is your bob for?
If its local evacuation (eg flood)
your not going to be flavour of the month rocking up to the edge of town leisure centre off a bus with a Bowie knife and a axe hanging from your pack and unpacking a gas mask when you dig out your sleeping bag revealing a cross bow, bolts 3 more knives and a litre of your own urine in a milk bottle and a chemistry set of chemicals for fire lighting...
. your probably going to end up in a different reception down the local cop shop
On that note grab your bob and stand outside your "burning house". Your mobile phone is now lost to the flames as it was on charge upstairs.
You tell " me" the name of yiur house insurance firm and their phone number and your policy number?
You got change to use a pay phone?
(Hello insurance company my house is burning to the ground I need a hotel for the night!).
You got money for a taxi as the hotel is 5 miles away?
Your wallet was with your phone.....
Its raining your stood in your boxers as you was dozing on the sofa when the chip pan went nuclear reactor and filled the house with thick smoke.....
On that note. Turn the lights off and get out your front door... Its locked. .. Are your house keys always in a place you can get to them and find the correct key in the dark ...
Prepping is a lot more than a old army rucksack stuffed full of "offensive weapons"

PS when you last check your smoke alarms... Sleep well

Re: Newbie
That is a good question I think plan A would be to stay at home secure it as best as possible in a shtf situation , I keep it as a bag really to keep it all together and easily accessible. I have scoped some potential bug out destinations close ish to my home.
I live in the middle of nowhere with good rural/country spots . However I'm open to learn a new way of thinking and to take advice as it's given .
Cheers for the reply andy

Only managed to see half of your post when I replied andy . Your quite right on a few points there and thank you for raising the less "doomsdayer" points of a bob . Luckily the wife is a terrible cook and the smoke alarms are tested daily around the 5pm mark
