Re: Kn95 masks
In most cases other than for people who have been specififically "fit tested' for respirators. Masks worn by both H/C professionals & others are worn primarily to protect others from what you exhale.
Respirator masks seal the mouth and nose off from the atmosphere, they filter what you inhale and let what you exhale out without filtering it therefore not protecting others- we only wear respirators in areas where there is a high risk of airborne infection.
Masks labelled KN95 are no good for high risk environments, but they are fine for general use: shopping etc.
"Fit testing" is a specialist process to ensure the mask seal works.
When removing a used mask do not touch the outside & wash your hands/ alcohol wipe down your hands. Before your next task.

Nice info mate but i do always say with this sort of stuff buy from proper shops , screwfix , toolstation and so on never get them from the boot sale guy lol , i will say as i have to wear a mask everywhere we use a fare few of these but if you use common sense it is not about not touching the outside it is about cleaning hands after removing the mask , also if you use a mask just throw them to one side leave till you have a few then peg out on a dolly airer in the garden let the wind blow through and you can reuse , if it is only you using i would not share but for personal use as i say it gets expensive other wise .Yorkshire Andy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 8:32 pm Be aware

I like the JSP spring fit masks they fit me well added bonus they now Cary the good old BSI kite mark been made in the UK
During lockdown I had a fight with the paslode framing gun and it stuck the nut on me splitting my eyebrow .. I attended the local hospital only mask I could grab was my moldex rubber halfmask with abek1 plus ffp3 front loaded to the vapour cartridges ...
Booked in sat down little old lady with a blue swollen ankle and lovely handmade sewn mask ... and a rather robust erm lady sporting her sunflower badge looking at me like I'm some alien being visually tutting my mask and prescription safety glasses get up ...
Well 5 minutes later the doors open this guy comes in literally coughing his lungs up he'd done 101 they sent him a taxi to get him to the hospital suspecting COVID and he walked straight into the waiting room ..,..
well the smug superior grin of the exemption badge was wiped from her face ..
I turned to the old lady and said I wonder if the exemption badge works like a mask....
They ushered him into a side room asap I got told off by nurse
I came back out having been triaged and the badge was gone and she had a NHS issue mask clamped to her face
As I got sutured up and discharged I lobbed the whole mask in the bin on the way out and bathed in alcohol gell all exposed skin got rubbed over and my jumper getting back to the car went in a bag for life and sealed up the Boss who collected me asked about the mask saw reason with me binning £30+ of mask
