Hi from West Mids

Post by Blue407 »

Hi

Just to say hi, I live in the West Midlands and have a recent interest in being prepared for situations. I think a UK based forum is a great idea as I think we have unique problems not addressed in the mainly US forums.

Always been keen on the outdoors and camping, EDC was something I've always done natually with a decent pocket torch and multi-tool.
Can't remember what I was searching for when I came accross some of the US Prepardness forums, but got reading a few stories and then one thing led to another.....

I can't truly say I am in to prepardness yet, more just aware and taking it into account when purchasing things etc... Certainly not got months of food etc stored yet!!

I guess I'm lucky in that I live in a small town and have a small river right next door if we got desperate for water. I also have plenty of camping equipment including a porta-loo.

I have created a get me home bag for both our cars and one for work, they are definately work in progress and still need quite a few items. Also insist on my partner always keeping a coat and sturdy shoes in her car.

I think our problems are quite unique compared to the US. We don't get the hurricanes and storms they get, we do not have such a large amount of distance between places, and the majority of people are not armed!! That does lead onto some interested problems on self-defence and defending your property though......
