Covid equipment

Post by Moorland Prepper »

I've just been having a clear out in the garage and came across a draw that was full of stuff collected at the start of the outbreak that included, among other things, hand gels, disinfectant, wipes, antiseptic sprays, floor wipes, baby wipes, antibacterial surface wipes and something labelled “antibacterial, antifungal, pathogen kill spray”. Like most people I just bought anything that would give some protection against Covid, or so I thought at the time.

All now past their best before date.

Is it worth hanging onto these or does their effectiveness deteriorate rapidly over time and make them ineffective after a few years?

Thanks

Like anything use it and rotate

Chuck them in the kitchen / bathroom and just use them for regular cleaning round the house

Still don't understand why people go mad for household cleaning stuff the wife drives me mad with more bottles than a french vineyard bottling plant under the sink

For general cleaning

Bleach
All purpose cleaner
Washing up liquid
Detol
Degreaser
Window cleaner

Is about all I buy as it covers nearly all bases
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

The alcohol hand wash/gel will last forever, the wipes will eventually dry out. If the antibac/fungal is bleached based they'll loose potency.

The alcohol gel makes quite a good BBQ/firepit starter according to my other half.

Hand gel should be good indefinitely.

Keep any Covid related stuff stocked and ready.

Saw a notice recently that Avian Flu has jumped to mammals recently.

I saw Covid as a warm up exercise for an Avian Flu Pandemic.

I post to contribute so take as you see fit. My way is not the only way.

Avian flu has been a big deal for bird - keepers and poulterers for yonks. I am glad really that I no longer keep poultry- well I physically can’t anyway - as they were permanently covered for the last 4 years. All I have now are my cockatiels, and they too have to be monitored.

As for covid ‘equipment’, who doesn’t keep hand sanitizer, bleach etc. anyway?

The wipes are good for cleaning your car dashboard too.
