Morning One And All.
As we are all looking for that retreat on the cheap and someone to bug out too.
I was browsing and came across a video on concrete tents - Havent found out how to import the direct video link on here so if you go to the bbc news website and go to the technology section videos.
They seem relatively good and appear to have significant uses, however I dont know what would happen with requirements for planning permission for them.
I then googled the item and came across the website(if I am not mistaken the company are just down the road via way of a short trip down the A470 - for those who know this road well).
Anyways here is the company http://www.concretecanvas.co.uk
I shall email them to see if I can get an idea of prices as this maybe a viable option for some dependent on prices.
Concrete Tents
Re: Concrete Tents
Just had a look at thier brochure it looks really good, the only problem i can see if it was stored for then construction post STF is the need for an electric fan to inflate the inner, although im sure you could manage somehow if you had a generator but unless you have one of the stored at your BOL then im unsure how you would inflate it manually.

Re: Concrete Tents
Quite a good point MP.
What I was thinking was was about that, these would be useful if some land could be bought and these setup way in advance and camoflauged some what to hide them as best as possible.

Re: Concrete Tents
If you were to construct them before an even and have them camouflaged as you say i believe they would be a viable option depending on the cost of the item, if i were to have one i would personally cover it with earth as shown in the video to provide better insulation and also make it less obvious. Additionally you could get a couple of these and form a small collection of them and possibly if you could buy the individual pieces of clotha and produce covered walkways, for long term use i would want to fit a wood burner and have the flu going out the top. Another minor point would be the lack of windows, you would end up needing either electricity to light the tent or to use candles and such like during the day.

Re: Concrete Tents
Evening All.
Just an update on this, I have emailed the company for prices/brochure plus they also send out samples which I have asked how to obtain.
Once I have information back from the company, I shall update accordingly.
Lets hope the prices are relatively cheap

Re: Concrete Tents
Hmm...... nice! If we mirror that with an earlier post about 'acquiring' a cheap piece of land from a farmer, building a berm around it putting a Norwegian type roof over it with crops, etc.... Hmmm, i shall have to do some more research!!
Still like the rammed earth types better, but hey, as an additional shelter. Can they be used as a type of bunker once made and reinforced?? Theres a question you could ask about, also ventilation for the previous query??

Re: Concrete Tents
Afternoon All,
Those who have PM'd me - the prices are not that bad for the size of the product that you get.
Im going to request some samples of the product, will do a personal review if needs be.
Janso from what I understand once these things are set(within 24 hours I believe) then they are like normal concrete structures and can be drilled etc and from what I have read about this product their uses vary and Im sure they have even been used as sterile medical operating room(I'll look through my favourites once organised to confirm this).
I'll go back to them with queries about the product, but if we people wouldnt mind dropping me some idea's on what they would like to know and I can go back to the company with all the queries all in one go.

Re: Concrete Tents
I contacted these people a few years back and from memory they worked out at about £17,500.
A bit out of my price range. If I had the land I would build an Earth Hut or Earthship. Obviously more work involved but the materials are free or next to nothing.
If you have the money then these things are great but if you are on a budget, then there are much better options.
If I remember correctly, they do this stuff on a roll which I thought might be more useful.
Be lucky
