Pepper fail during power outage

Post by jennyjj01 »

Fessing up. I failed!
Power outage started about noon while I was at work. ETA for repair is late into the night,

So driving home I smugly planned to dig out the camping stove and divert the inverter to the meat freezer and central heating.
No biggy
Now. The garage door is a virtually impregnable electric one. So I can't get to anything solar. Gas stove is in the garage, as is generator, entire solar power system and even the rocket stove.
No problem. Garage side door is a eurolock......
But some idiot has left a key in on the inside. So garage is hermetically sealed!
Expletive expletive expletive.
We went out for food, but it's an epic fail. The only upside is that the car is not in the garage, so at least I can charge the phone and power up internet.

Shouldn't laugh :) must not laugh

Least you know now and can prevent it happening again

We have abus euro locks and one of the selling points is they work with a key in the other side

Please do laugh at me and beat me up about this. Unforgivable.

We have unsnappable quality Eurolocks, but they won't work with the key inside..... At least that's why I believe we are locked out.

And I can't prevent it happening again until the power returns. I'm to their mercy and in limbo and gagging for a cup of tea. If WW3 strikes now, we're up the creek. So much is in the garage. It's only luck that the car with USB-C charging is out of the garage. I'm found wanting on USB-C charging facilities.

Could bug elsewhere, as we did in dining out, but that's plan C

Any manual over ride for the roller shutter?

Time to start thinking of a aux power input for the garage to power the place from the outside to get the shutter up

Ouch, Jenny, that's quite something - I really hope you managed to get a cup of tea soon, that's tough :?

Presumably not the sort of lock/door you can jiggle until the key falls out the other side. What a nightmare!

Not a fail,

1. a learning experience for you.

2. a teaching experience for us.

a win win for everyone all at a cost of a missing cuppa and a takeaway.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Wonder if Jenny is back on yet just had a lovely hot cup of tea

Last time we had a big power cut the shock that the takeaway /s wasn't answering the phone or accepting just eat orders was just funny
