Water (lack of)

Post by Nurseandy »

Well, this is unusual - I'm in NE scotland and scottish water & SEPA are asking people (including those like myself on private water supplies) to reduce their water usage and voluntarily stop using hosepipes.
Hasn't rained here for probably a month and our water butts were emptied a couple of weeks ago.
We don't have any shortage of water from the borehole and the local burns are still flowing albeit much lower than normal but it does highlight the potential fragility of water supplies, even in scotland.
How's the rest of the country?

As dry as a bone down the coast in Edinburgh. It’s affy strange.

I’m not buying any plants till I am back from my holiday in the first week of June, I reckon they will all just die when I am away.

UK is in drought. All of it. A few places in the SW are not so much affected.

In the north west reservoirs are 69 per cent full, compared with 90% at this time last year

Interesting factoid.

There’s more fresh water in Loch Ness than there is in every lake and reservoir in England and Wales!

It’s the reason why Nessie lives there!

But if we used the water out of loch Ness we'd lose nessie then there'd be no tourists & scottish economy would crash.........
