I've not seen those. When camping, I always used a head torch. My old one uses a big rectangular battery (3LR12). Varta make one that claims 10 year life in storage. My new one uses 3 or 4 AAAs. I use rechargeables, and charge them once a year.

I think I agree with you. Much easier to find a couple of spare AA or AAA cells in an SHTF situation than to have to fight with trying to repair an integrated light. I have a few rechargeable lights for every day but keep simpler stuff for the real emergencies.

My big old Petzl lives on the cellar door, to get to the trip switches if the lights are out.

But I also have a mini Petzl, that lives in my BOB. This uses two coin batteries. These have a 10 year life, stored in the device. And spare batteries weigh very little. CR2032 batteries. This is not my main bugout head torch, it's a spare. My main one lives on my bed post, and is a Black Diamond, which uses four rechargeable AAAs.
