Super Inexpensive Fire Extinguisher

Post by jennyjj01 »

ALDI
I just picked up a couple at £9.99 each on Thursday. Currently showing as £7.99
https://www.aldi.co.uk/product/fx-fire- ... 0000286093

1kg Powder

Almost Identical to the £25+ equivalent model in Screwfix/Toolstation.
Graceful Degradation! Prepping's objective summed up in two words. Turning Disaster into Mild Inconvenience by the power of fore-thought

Not Feeling Optimistic. Let me be wrong

And you know what they work! And carry the bsi en3 kitemark so fully decent bit of kit

They make a mess but they work nothing a hoover and a damp cloth can't solve

Ideal for cars caravans and garages as they don't freeze unlike water or foam ...

Only thing in a house they aren't to be used on is chip pans .. covers most bases

cheers Andy. Thanks for confirming. Seemingly great value. Ideal prepper family gift. I'll get a few more if not sold out.

Over the past 15 or so years there's been a push to remove them from buildings based on a poorly worded bsi update biggest issue is the cloud of powder making finding an exit difficult

https://chubbfs.com/uk-en/changes-to-th ... s-indoors/

So now the gods are saying use them in sensible places.. my mate worked for his sins at a big insurer doing home insurance.... His logic was the extinguisher will do less damage than a house fire. They'd rather pay to redecorate a living room after a small fire and subsequent powder contamination and replace carpet and sofa Vs the cost of a total rebuild

I was gobsmacked by the effectiveness in those videos.

I was prompted to buy my first extinguisher and a bunch of detectors after a friend suffered a house fire. I would tolerate an awful lot of powder damage in preference to losing my home or my life. If it's burning, it's already ruined, so what will a stain matter?
I don't like them on display, but inside selected cupboard doors, these are most reassuring.
You can get them cheaper on the bay, but for a tenner, Really: Even I can pay that with a smile.

You think that's impressive... This is a 6kg powder ... I've 2 of these in my shed...

At that price Jenny get a spare wait for a wet day ... Light a wood fire in a garden burner or metal tin and have a practice . In a controlled way ..

That way you'll know what to expect and give you a bit more confidence

Ps wear a dust mask

Or ask the local fire station to take you through a practice run, doesn't hurt to ask with a jar of coffee and some biccies ;)
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
