New here
Hiya! I'm a low-effort prepper committed to doing what I can living as I do in an Urban, Northern setting. I have an extensive garden with a decent sized allotment attached (lucky me!) So that's a start. Mainly focussed on mitigating short term risks, so I have my bug-out bag but I'm also mainly making preparations in long term food storage as my biggest fear is climate induced food shortages lasting 3 months to a year. I'd go insane if I tried to think longer term than that, but I think that is a safe area to focus on. My house is already set up to collect rainwater with a multi-barrel storage system, but I still need to look into getting a good water filter.
Re: New here
That doesn't sound very low effort to me. Fellow urban northerner, also concerned about the climate. I studied geology, which is very closely related. I keep up with the research.PrepperPrincess wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 8:39 am Hiya! I'm a low-effort prepper committed to doing what I can living as I do in an Urban, Northern setting. Welcome, Princess - I love the sound of your setup, I *still* haven't got water butts organised. Current focus is replacing the last few double glazed windows, so I can open them up again.
Lovely to have an allotment type space right next to the house, and a bug out bag of some sort is essential - I've almost had to evacuate my house a couple of times - tiles in various places torn off by storms, a murder 5 doors away. I'd raided my bag for a quick local holiday, but I got it going again sharpish when someone (a long way away from me, admittedly) discovered another unexploded WWII bomb. You just never know.
