Very bad. Last night we had frost. We have also had, this week, hail, sleet, gales, some sun, but with very cold winds, and heaps and heaps of lashing bloody rain! :(
A lot of my plants are wind and cold burned, my pumpkins and squash just died on me, even though I covered them with a fleece tunnel, even my blackcurrent bushes, usually so green and lush this time of year, are bare branched and brittle leaved. Thanks to extremes of weather and no sun, this growing season is pretty much done for me, with so very little to harvest.
It`s a real blow and pretty depressing.

Yes - it's my own special technical term! :lol

Basil died. Pepper leaves are all deformed and not much growing going on. The tomatoes - well - they are indescribable, other than to say that they have grown OUT and not UP. Only things doing well (I think) are the tatties, the lettuce and the spring onions.

I`ve still got tatties and neeps coming through for me, Lil, thank goodness. Might be back to the basic crofter`s diet this winter....fish, tatties and neeps...can always make clapshot :)
Slugs ate my pepper plants and my tomatoes just aren`t doing anything, I suspect because of the cold. Just saw the weather forecast on BBC Scotland, looks like more lashing rain, cold and gale force winds for here tomorrow.
Jayz, why can`t the weather gods give us a break here? Have I got to go out and sacrifice a Sassenach? Tsk.
(only joking btw! Well, about the sacrifice, the weather really is dire...)

So far, so good. Potatoes, onions, courgette and garlic all coming through. Beans and peas on their way. Should've got the soya beans in by now. Hope to do that tomorrow morning when I have my workout with the physio on the allotment! Just planted out some thornless blackberries. Gooseberry isn't looking too grand but rest of fruit ok.

Greenhouse stuff is doing well; been picking lettuce for a couple of weeks. Toms are slow but growing and cucumbers are doing well.
Outside; picked 2 ripe strawberries and lots starting to ripen. Potatoes are looking good, runner/french beans - planted out few weeks ago but have slowed right down. Peas looking good, spring onions just showing.
However, carrots are cr*p!!!!! and outside toms slowed right down.

Need to plant some more stuff but hopefully the next few days will be warmer so the soil will warm up again.

Sorry to hear things are not going well in Bonny Scotland. Fingers crossed for good neeps and tatties

I think Scarborough has a mini climate all its own Hobo
My Basil is 2ft tall and like a bush Itsy, I am going to throw it out as its too big for the windowsill (its inside) and I dont use it for cooking anyway, just wanted to try growing it.
Lettuce doing fine - its in milk containers outside on my bench, to keep it away from slugs. Tomatoes going great, they're inside on south-facing windowsills, along with the Basil and Rosemary. I think if I moved the garden inside then it would do fine.
We haven't been short of water here - just short of sun!
My tatties are jsut coming through and my leeks look ok. But I cant do carrots, and I lost whole packets of seeds, totally gone without a trace.
