edc carabiner

Post by seboss »

hey dudes and dudettes!

Right, so i came accross this one years back myself after getting fed up of either losing kit from my pocket or having to fumble around for stuff in full pockets or in my backack every time i needed something. So i always carry an "every day carry carabiner", clipped to my belt or belt loop, with items i use alot, e.g pocket knife, keys, multi tool, torch, along with items i need in case of emergency, e.g whistle, tinder in a waterprrof capsule, cord etc. These are all on individual keyrings or lanyards and clipped to the carabiner, with all the items then tucked into my pocket. Handy to know theyre not falling out anywhere and theyre all on one clip together, even more handy not having to go into my backpack every two mins when were camping. The other big reason is knowing that if you lose your backpack for whatever reason, youve got your kit on hip to see you through. I always carry the same again in my back pack in case, ( 2 is 1, 1 is none). Anyway Theres alot of examples you may have already seen on youtube, just thought id share in case anybody finds it usefull.
Add, take, modify and utilise as many items as you like.

Note, i use a screw gate carabiner just to make double sure!

I also carry a carabiner EDC similar to yours.

One tip, and it may seem blindingly obvious, I used to clip it to a belt loop. One day moving through some reasonably rough ground, the crab caught on a low branch and the belt loop failed causing the kit to fall off. I did not notice this for a couple of hours. Luckily I was able to retrace my steps and find it.

Now I always clip the crab around the belt itself, much more secure.
