Is there anything extra you are putting into place for the strike this coming Friday?
Extra people on the streets perhaps.
Students with an extra 'holiday' and in a 'striking' mood perhaps.
Disrupted traffic perhaps.
Public Sector Strike
Re: Public Sector Strike
UCU are holding a rally in the city centre on that day, but it won't affect me personally as I don't work in city. I doubt that there will be much of an impact on campus as the students are on vacation now.

From a purely selfish point of view it will make my life easier. Driving for a living is bliss when the kids aren't at school, no school runs etc, the roads are far easier.
Will cause quite a few problems for parents who have to stay at home to look after the kids though, so there could be knock on effects for other sectors

No extra preps but it does mean I miss my yoga class
however I do get to play with Lego all morning instead!
Re: Public Sector Strike
So, do we think this strike could be the beginning of a bit of a 'situation' then? Looking at what's going on in Greece tonight anyone have any thoughts on whether we will be going down the same road of civil unrest?

...and I think you shouldn't look at it as a "disruption" - instead you should join and fight for our rights and our freedom! It's in my business to go and strike with them but if I'll drive through the city centre I will show my support.

I'll pass on that if thats ok.....none of them went out on strike to support me when I was made redundant (3 times in 10 years). Now things are affecting them i'm supposed to feel sorry for them ?Technik wrote:...and I think you shouldn't look at it as a "disruption" - instead you should join and fight for our rights and our freedom! You can pay more taxes if you like to keep them in the manner to which they are accustomed, but I think i'll pass if thats ok
