Got a new (old) Tilley Lamp

This arrived today...picked it up from ebay for £8 plus postage, in working condition but I have just stripped it down as it needs some TLC and a service pack.

That's well cheap! I never see them that cheap on evilbay, not in working condition anyway. And I'd never be able to do all that fiddly stuff to make it light up again!

That's well cheap! I never see them that cheap on evilbay, not in working condition anyway. And I'd never be able to do all that fiddly stuff to make it light up again!

They quite often go for around the £20 - £30 mark on ebay, the problem is that you dont know what you are getting for your money. I didnt mind on this one because it was so cheap and as long as all the bits were there (and was working) then it was just a case of getting a service pack (SP1 in this case £9.99) and giving it a bit of tlc

As luxor said, new they are over £100 with the main costs (looking at their spares prices) being the bowl and the cage. Hopefully for a total outlay of about £25 and a bit of elbow grease I will have a "nearly new" one......hopefully

if not, im more than happy to buy the glass bowl of you to replace a cracked one of mine.
