advice please!!!
Re: advice please!!!
Alliee,
Depends on how may you are cooking for and what fuel you are comfortable using.
For one or two:
Canister stoves are quick but require as the name suggests spare canisters.

Meths burners like the trangia are slower, but quieter but again need a supply of fuel.

Paraffin Burners can be used in all temperatures, the Artic Survey teams still use stoves older than my good self

Wood burners like the hobo stove/bushbuddy require dry wood and the ability to keep them going

Hexi burners are idiot proof but stink to high heaven.

Each have their own merits and I have used them all.
Not helped much have I?

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Re: advice please!!!
Yes I love my Dutch Ovens:

12 Litre on the left, 8 litre on the right.
Heavy but worth it.
For 3 I would advise the 8 Litre one, it will feed more at that size, but better to have the space and not use it IMO.
It is the only pot you'll need apart from a kettle/coffee pot.
Bake, Roast, Stew, Deep Fry... you name it. And; in the morning, just use the lid, turn it upside down onto the fire and there's your skillet for a Fatboy's Brekkie.
Got mine here:

No connection apart from a satisfied customer.

Technik,
As I said they all have their place, and I vary from one to the other, going back to lost friends in some cases
At the moment for these Summer months
whilst I have the time, I love using the Trangia set up in the 2nd pic.
In Winter it'd be the Optimus in the 3rd pic.

Re: advice please!!!
I have a small hexi kit, with windbreak. Small and convenient, but I agree - the fumes are phenomenal! Use outside only. It's for emergencies only, and the tests I've run on it are great.
The fuel tablets burn furiously, but you can break them up and use less for making just a cuppa etc. About 6 months ago I did a fry-up on mine, and it did well.

Re: advice please!!!
I also think it depends on what you are needing it for.
For me, I was looking for alternative cooking equipment if no power. So I chose a standard camping cooker with gas bottle. The joy of this is I just don't have to use it outside, I do use it in the kitchen as long as the back door is open.
I have the BBQ as a fall back but would like to get one with a lid at some point.
In the future I woudl like to be able to have a small fire pit in the garden and invest in a dutch oven and other equipment.
