Ok a bit more about myself....
Yes ive been prepping for sometime and in this ecomomic climate there seems to be many reasons to do so. You will be pleased to know that although there are countless other theories why to prep the most immediate will be the very real chance of a bad winter. We as British are all aware of how the country comes to a stand still when it snows..... Thats not to say im not prepared for other scenarios..
Ive worked in retail superstore management for 9 years and have always been amazed at how the public panic buy when the snow comes and how the petrol pumps run dry when there is talk of fuel shortages. With winter on our doorsteps and talk or it being a bad one people would be best advised to stock up. If the roads are blocked by heavy snow then the petrol tankers cant get through, this means no fuel for cars or haulage firms and in return no food deliveries to shops. After 3 to 5 days you will be looking at shelves being emptied by those lucky enough to get to the shops. And dont count on there being water in the tap if your pipes freeze or the water mains burst !
I now work in security and have done so for 15 years, i also have a small team of 10 or so guys that work for me. Iam in a unique position that allows me to live and work at a rural location of about 150 acres. I have access to lake fed by a river and stocked with fish and the ability to hunt a range of wildlife from rabbits, duck to deer if needs must. The area is surrounded by woods that fuel my log fire and im also able to store large amounts of heating oil and diesel, so i count myself lucky.
So thats a little bit more about me, look forward to your comments and questions you may have
Fortune favours the prepared !

Hullo. I agree with what you're saying about the bulk of folks being taken unawares by the winter weather, daft considering the climate we live in.
Re: Another Hi from sussex
Sounds like a very nice place you live - a dream I have...
Re: Another Hi from sussex
Sounds ideal from a prepper point of view! Do you have a garden there?
Re: Another Hi from sussex
Yes i do have a garden. I had to fence off an area around the cottage to stop my very large pure white akita, (polar bear) from roaming the countryside. There is also an unused greenhouse next to the garden that ive been thinking about trying to grow some things in. If there are any green fingered types out there then i would like some advice and suggestions on some crops to try...

Hi Newdawnfades.
You know there might be something coming up if your the right person for the job !
Its private work but 14 hr shifts 5pm - 7am on Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun so no weekend social life. but the location is great if you like the idea of your friend up norths farm. Its a 100 plus acre site with small wooded areas and a lake, and you can fish and shoot on the job, good if your looking for a bug out location a bit closer to home. Its about 15 mins from Lewes out towards the A22.
Could arrange a tour if your interested ?

I could do with a Saturday job if anyone's got anything going around my neck of the woods, Christmas coming up and all...
