Hi from Romsey

Post by ELM »

Hello, I must confess that untill about a week ago I had never heard about prepping but when I did I found that it was perfect for me. I sadly do not live in a very rural area but I do have a good sized garden and a vegetable patch. We know somebody who owns a farm so if anything happens we could go to him in a matter of minutes and get live food from there. I am not of an age where I can legally leave my home yet and my parents, whilst trying to become self-sustainable, think that prepping is stupid. But I do not, and am planning to keep on subtly getting them to like and agree with prepping. I have already drawn up plans though for what I would like my parents to do and how they live and my future home and life. Also could someone tell me what the abbreviations mean please. :D

Welcome and at such a young age...the best time to start prepping. Keep subtley plugging away with your folks, don't make it too obvious though. Ask to learn how to perserve the veg you grow or how to make jam. How about asking to keep a couple of chickens. Ask to attend a first aid course etc

If they ask why just say you're interested and want to learn new skills. :D
Feel free to ask anything...

ELM, is there anything in particular you would like to know and maybe we can point you towards a past discussion or even another website (as we all use a few other ones to inform us)

Well I think its just that I have seen the American websites and they seem more into it than the UK one. But it is probably because they seem to think that the world is going to end more than we do.

In reality theres very few similarities ELM. America is huuuuge with loads of empty space, we are tiny- and down south, overcrowded as hell. They have guns, we don't. Not much use copying their style of prepping here too closely. Just take out of it what applies (and ignore the silly stuff !)
