Some interesting choices in there, but my advise is wait until you have a bit more money and buy some quality gear, buy once and it will be something you have for a long time, buy in haste and you will be replacing it in a year or two.

What gnoley said. I seem to recall from your other thread that you have a sleeping bag already. If it were me I would buy a better rucksack rather than upgrade something. While I have no direct experience of that pack it looks very square so you might find it very uncomfortable over any distance. There are also some strong arguments for avoiding camo gear, perhaps just an olive green or black pack would suit?
Id be skipping the boots and saw in favour of food and water purification.
A bob is a great place to start your prepping but you can use it just as well in the front room if needed.

the bag is very comfortable (iv got a the black one and have done a six mile hike) the only problem it might be a bit small so iv got a bigger pack now and my other half will be using it. the Laplander saw is good but i would spend the money on a survival straw first so you have water purification sorted and build up some food reserves if you can.
its a good start

How about actually suggesting some 'better alternatives' guys n gals?
I've heard good things about the MaxPedition range and have one on the longer term buy list when I save up some cash. I have a cheapish Bergen at the moment from EvilBay which will do for now. The one I am looking at is below:
http://www.greenmanbushcraft.co.uk/ruck ... ii-bag.htm
Lots of other pouches and accessories which can be added and from a lot of reviews, they are pretty much bomb proof.
I would hold off on the boots until you can get some good ones. I have Brasher leather hiking boots for long rough stuff and I swear by Merrells for comfort and resilience. If there's one thing I would never skimp on its protection for your feet, they are the one thing pretty much always in use and you are in a lot of trouble without em
Have a Bahco, it's great, but second priority like the others say until you get some of the other stuff sorted. Not sure on the sleeping bag, I am researching myself on this so will hold back on a recommendation for now.
Great start though, keep researching and asking around, you will get some good pointers.

I seem to be in th minority but I dislike Maxpedition stuff , the whole premise of not compartmentalising the load I think moves the C-O-G out from away the body mass , making it an uncomfortable load. I know some people love them to bit but to me they do seem over priced , yes bombproof , but still over price. However what you do with your money is none of my interest.

I have a spare couple of the newest version of the mini SAS guide (green cover) if you want to pay me the postage? Any other takers?
