I was watching one of those animal rescue programmes on TV the other day and the vet mentioned that the best thing to use when an animal is bleeding is to use a un-used newspaper to bandage it with as the newspaper is almost sterile from the hot presses used when being printed, the vet also said that many people use newspaper to bandage injuries when there is nothing esle to use.

This information was new to me, so thought I would share it with you all. (If the information is incorrect, please forgive me).

i think that the paper would aid the blood to clot by slowing the flow but don't forget if the wound is small you can put your hand over it to stem the flow.

I'm using newspapers with our puppy and I do notice that they are somewhat water-resistent. I think you would have to press quite firmly, which I suppose you would do anyway, but until the liquid "catches" in it, don't be surprised if it runs off a bit.
