Multicam or tactical black?

Multicam or tactical black?
A question...which is the above! I am contemplating getting a tactical chest rig for kit/whatever. No idea when I would use it and I know it is not 'grey man' gear! However, it does look capable. I may play paintball or something like that but am concerned it is just to much of a target maker of myself if used? Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: Multicam or tactical black?
Not for me! If I have so much stuff I need a chest rig then I have too much stuff. However, if I had to choose, then black it would be. It's always best to not stand out too much.

One option for a tac-vest that isn't is a multi-pocket sports vest

Re: Multicam or tactical black?
I have a tac vest for different purposes, but in a SHTF situation I think a tac vest is far too attention grabbing. A sports/fishing vest gets my vote. If I had to make my way out of a city after the event, I would want to look as desperate as I could rather than look well equipped... A non tactical back pack or courier style bag would be my choice. Survival tin/kit on body in case I had to drop everything and run...the-gnole wrote:One option for a tac-vest that isn't is a multi-pocket sports vest

If I positively had to have one I would go with black...

Re: Multicam or tactical black?
If it is urban escape into rural location I would go for country colours rather than DPM/Camo of any sort, after all the tweed shooting kit does look a lot better than being Camo clad.
DPM/camo is OK for hunting and E&E practice in areas of limited habitation, but when there are likely to be others a bit of subtlety is a good option.

Re: Multicam or tactical black?
I always go for plain olive green everything (bags and clothing) for the following reasons:
* Black tactical gear makes you look like a SWAT/police/special ops nutter.
* Cammo of any kind stands out more so in public and again you look like an army nutter or in a SHTF situation a well kitted up target.
* Cammo also comes in many forms so may not be very efficient unless you go to a certain area a lot and have a pattern to match.
Olive green is more obvious than civvy gear but is less extreme looking in public. Not only that but in the woods you appear more 'Ray Mears' than 'GI Joe'. And finally when it does all go boobs aloft, you can cover your backpack with a plain cover or 'mac-in-a-sac' when in public.....

......then grub up your olive gear with dirt/cammo stick/shoe polish if you want to break up your outline when you get somewhere less urban:

Re: Multicam or tactical black?
I agree with Beavy69's take
To the OP I'd reccomend a fishing type vest/jacket as a way of carryingf some EDC type stuff, and of generall use, those tactical rig type things do give the appearance of one or more of Beavy's steriotypes.
The gun club states don't turn up in full cammo gear, we are not a military organisation, I can't afford that large a wardrobe so whilst I see the brilliance of some of these cammo designs for hunting or hiding purposes, and they do indeed make some jackets and other things which are really useful and will do more than an adequete job keeping you warm and dry, at work as an electrician in the end I settled on combat trousers (black) as even the olive green made me feel like an action man wannabe back then, now I agree it could be more Ray Mears.* Black tactical gear makes you look like a SWAT/police/special ops nutter.

I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
Re: Multicam or tactical black?
I have a couple of body warmers, one green, one light tan. I see these as all I need and as I wear them often, folks round here are used to seeing me in them.
If you think you can do it, you're right.
If you think you can't do it, you're right.

Re: Multicam or tactical black?
I'd go with Beavy69's take as well, plus a dash of what C4tch (I'm saying Cootch in my head, no idea if thats how you want it pronounced, sorry!) said about not looking well equipped.
