No, not moving things with your mind, but making sure your mind stays sane!
In prepping, amongest all the food storage and survival gear, I find it's easy to forget about some of the other 'needs' we 20th Centuryers may have!
One of my car BOBs has a deck of waterproof cards in it, but for my main BOB, I'm planning on filling a Sony Walkman mp4 player that I no longer use with a selection of my favourite films - eg. The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy and some feel-good movies, especially Christmas ones like It's A Wonderful Life and Alistair Sim's Scrooge. As I hope to acquire some kind of solar trickle charger for 12V batteries and an inverter capable of running on one that will also have a USB socket on it, if things get a bit on the grim side, then some entertainment might go a long way. Granted, it might also make you weep for all that's been lost, but as I always maintain: Better to have and not need than need and not have!
In case we get EMP'd by a nuke or an X-Flare, I intend to keep the charger, the inverter and the player in a galvanised box to act as a Farady cage, in the hope that this will provide protection from the burst.
Anyone else taking measures along these lines? (Apologies if this subject has been brought up in a previous thread)

drawing and painting materials, sketchbooks.
Spare sets of guitar strings.
books, books and more books.
These aren't necessarily for EOTWAWKI but also for lean times (have been reduced to drawing with biro on paper bags before!)

books, book, and more books, paper, and drawing/painting materials (my daughter would go crazy if she couldnt let her art out) scrabble, chess and draughts, playing cards, dominoes - and monopoly for when we really get desperate
Oh and an old acoustic guitar - which I cant play - but I do have a couple of learn to play books. Its always been one of my 'things to do' but have never quite got round to
Re: For levity
Really good question. My little bug out bag has a mini box of cards. If TSHTF and I was bugging in, mmm, I have a lot of books! I'd practice drawing - I have that book, Drawing with the Right Hand Side of the Brain - I have a Dolmetsch recorder from my schooldays, tho any music is going to advertise your presence quite strongly, and I'd maybe be experimenting with cooking, tho cooking smells would ditto. And I'd write. As long as there was electricity, I'd write on my laptop, but otherwise it would be on paper. And if I had my laptop, there'd be mah jong

Looks like you might have a copy of Back To the Future in your BOB tooBradthunder wrote:In prepping, amongest all the food storage and survival gear, I find it's easy to forget about some of the other 'needs' we 20th Centuryers may have!
Yes, I have cards in my BOB. I am ADDICTED to Patience.
As for BI situations, books, sewing, books, drawing, books, knitting, books, crocheting, books...... you get the idea! I read a LOT. I invariably get a dozen books out of the library and finish them in 2 weeks
