Post by scotsman »

Ok so despite having a little stock pile of food ect i want to make a start on equipment but not sure exactly where or who is better than who ect

What im after is cooker i can safely use indoors with ventilation for example a trangia stove, i have a 1ltr of meths planning on building up a reserve of that
also something along the lines of a honey stove that i can use outside ect i can get sack after sack of small cut offs from a timber factory just up the road so easy source of fuel for something like the honey stove

So to save me typing and you reading two pages ect il make a little list hopefully someone can help me out :)

stove trangia,honey ect
Paraffin lamp, ect ( fire aside how safe are these indoors ?) IE fumes ect
a decent wind up torch

This style are quite good and cheap. Down to £5 some places. and you cam buy the gas cans in bulk from amazon.

You may want to think of what you are going to do with the "food" after you have eaten it.
Clothing is also something to look into.

Sleeping bags and survival bags are a definite must, if you have no heating your house will be like a freezer, blankets might not cut it. Try and get ones with a comfort temp of at least -5 and an extreme temp of about -10

Go Outdoors have good offers on bags :)

Candles are very cheap so get a good ammount of them, they don't need batterys, they don't need winding and don't break when they get wet, great for getting a fire going to. You can rely on them :)

Sleeping bags are on the list but as we intend to bug in duvets ect are plenty just need to work on cooking, water, sanitation, equipment (tools ect) security

I currently have a an 8 channel cctv system and would love to be able to run it if the grid went down but a genny would be fruitless as we live in a semi built up area

water storage, dont forget water ! it easy to forget as it comes out of a tap , have at least 2 to 3 weeks water stored away and build on that ! water filters and purification systems are also necessary :D
