good location for comunity

Post by storm.ridley »

hi all,
i think i might have found a really good location for building a new community, the only thing is how do i share my knowledge with peeps i dont know/trust, i guess i dont but then how do i inform peeps of my intention? the place i have found has everything that is needed, and i couldnt manage it on my own nor want to. is anyone else having similar problems? is there a way of safely telling people where to meet up when it all kicks off so we can help each other and survive better for it?

I have a similar issue here so I know what you are going through!!

I am asking peeps about a meet up at my end of the world, and if I get anybody who is willing to actually reply with a yes, I am going to entertain the idea of discussing the idea with them.

At least this way I am actually able to vet people face to face and see what skills e.t.c they bring to the party before blowing my cover

Well, you build relationships beforehand :)

**interested to note that storm.ridley is in sussex, like me, hint hint**

Area meets are the way to go on here! Want to suggest a date? Preferably after Christmas, now ...

I agree with arzosah. The building of relationships, face to face, is the way forward and the basis of any good commnunity. You can start getting to know people of the forums but we could all be complete numtys or serial killers!

What you don't want is to agree with people about forming a community and then finding out they don't share your ideals or are authoritarians etc. You need people with shared goals, ethos and can work together to form a democratic constitution.

That should be engraved somewhere!

We had a little area meet in September, storm, just three of us meeting up at Three Bridges (home to none of us! which was the idea, really), and combining it with a little focus, like naming our skills, or thinking about what we'd want in relation to a community, could be really good.

Sorry, I don't know what those last two closed brackets are about.

For a moment I though you were going to disclose some tasty gossip or something.

Think that is the main thing for an initial meet. Obviously I could be holier than thou and state "OPSEC" but reality is, if you don't know each other, on initial meeting you may loathe each other but they know where you live   MWAH HA HA HA
