It belonged to my Nan And Grandad, my Mum played in it as a kid in the garden, as did I, i have had it tucked away since both my grandparents passed away and thought i'd get it out to have a look at it today.
I knew it had a flysheet that was more tarp, it turns out it is 6'x7' plain cotton tarp with eyelets for the poles to go through and d-rings for the guys. I recon a good clean up and a dunk in fabsil and it would be ready to go again.
the inner is made of soft green cotton, it looks like it has never been used, its just been very well looked after as i know we used it alot.
Wooden poles, with ali sleeves to fit them together.
the thing that made me smile was when i was looking for a tag or some sort of identifing mark, inside the canvas bag(it was inside out as if to hide the fact) was the stenciled letters
"1943, MP&DB ALDERSHOT"
On the tarp bag is "Scoytmaster flysheet" (when you stick that in google it wants to correct it, but i did find a reference to Scoytmaster in the Canadian scouts?)
I was always told it was an old Scouts/Guides tent, but it looks like its origins might be WWII?
Any ideas.
either way, i will sort the tarp out and possibly give it a go in the garden before taking it up the woods, it might need to be in a museum!
