Hi.
Have had a little voice in the back of my mind for some time (several actually which may be more worrying ! lol) that has been telling me to start prepping, whats stranger still is that when I "came out" about it with my friends so had they. Have really only just started (research first) & have a found a load of stuff on here already to set me well on my way.
I'm a mechanic by trade, have renovated several properties (so a very practical person) but also "very outdoorsy" - camping, climbing, skiing, cycling, it would appear that a lot of the worst case scenario stuff I need (shelter / warmth etc) I have through my camping gear.
I've already begun taking my 2 children camping, walking & we pay a lot of attention to nature - tree's, berries, mushrooms etc & plan on continuing this as a "just in case".
I live in a rural area, have a sizable garden (I intend to use well) have had chickens etc in the past
The big bit I'm missing is - if it happened tomorrow what's my immediate plan & how long can I survive in relative comfort ? - so I need to start collecting foods / water.
If there's any help I need, I think its - What foods should I be collecting, what tinned / packet foods last the longest - I want the best bang for my buck & utilise my space most effectively.
Look forward to any simple help / guidance you can give.
Ian

Hi and welcome
Store what you eat eat what you store.
Look in your cupbourds and see if you can make a breakfast lunch and dinner of the tined/dry stuff you already have and then keep to those lines and look for long best before dates don't buy stuff that cannot be stored for under a year, you will be supprised how long some of the dates are between two to four years. Good starter pack fur lunch and dinner is
Soup
tined veg/mixed
pasta and rice
tinned meat such as curry cornbeef SPAM!
peanut butter(if no one is allergic to it)
multi vits
