Biuld a farm in your window.

Post by icrcc »

I was reading a post on another site and was directed to this video on window farms. For those who live in an apartment or have a house with no garden space it is a simple way to produce some of your own produce.

I love the idea that they are built mainly from recycled materials. Obviously these are not going to produce great volumes of food but they could easily be a primary source for herbs etc.
It may never happen. Best to be prepared just in case.

They seem challenging to make and I am unsure about the potential for the development of mould and rot as a result of increased humidity and flowing water. however, is definitely a possible idea, but not necessarily green as there is still an energy cost

They're very, very high spec, and very thin - I'm sure window space could be used more efficiently with shelves and normal-type plantpots!
