New to prepping originally from York now live in Middlesbrou

Post by buffsteve24 »

Hi all,

I'm new to prepping but have read quite up quite a bit and think it's time I started as you never know what's around the corner, I recently moved from York to just outside Middlesbrough about 6 months ago, still haven't got to know the area as well as I would like yet, if anything was to happen I wouldn't have a clue where to go but I'm sure with the help of this site I will find a place that fits the criteria, at the moment I have nothing stocked although I do have a machete and a hunting knife, and currently not in a position to even stock up due to it been a bit tight with funds I only work 11 hours a week so you can imagine how rich I am, anyway I'm sure it will be a pleasure to be on this site and get to know a few people and learn about the essential skills needed also, anyway I think I have said enough so I look forward to getting in the forums and meeting like minded folk

Welcome Steve!

Prepping isn't only about buying stuff though - its about being prepared, literally, so since you've only got 11 hours a week paid work (and I feel your pain about that :( ) you can prepare in other ways - making sure your living space is as secure as possible, for instance, walking the local area and finding out what's around you, using the library to help the research as well, learning about foraging, studying prep videos on you tube, getting fit, all sorts of stuff.

Good luck!

Hey all thanks for been so welcoming,

I know but it helps to stock up lol I am reading up on foraging, and have been watching a lot of youtube vids i have a very energetic springer who constantly wants walking which keeps me fit plus i work in a gym so get free membership :), i am getting to know the area slowly theres a lot of trails and walks around, I have a few survival skills already I can build basic shelter and very basic traps but just want to get to know essential survival skills and would love to live off the land and become a lot more self sufficent
